Bhavya in hindi/ Sanskrit means Grand , and Grand indeed this bar unit is with it's ability to hold about 40 bottles and 50+ Glasses along with the necessary 'Sura' paraphernalia .
Concept iteration happened over a few meetings with the Client , a prominent personality of Mumbai, a global citizen , for celebrating auspicious life milestones happening this year - for him and for his immediate family . What better than to create an Awesome Bar unit , since he was looking forward to throwing momentous and numerous bashes at his bungalow in Lonavala near Mumbai .
Lonavala is a tropical rainforest zone with perhaps one of the highest rainfall on planet earth - in excess of 4000 mm a year. All parties were planned on the large open terrace and hence this unit had to sit close - therefore everything we used had to be carefully selected- the metal, the wood and the mechanism - stand unblemished without a care over a period of time !
Teakwood, by virtue of it's antifungal, rot resistance, anti decay, pest resistant and toughness was the natural medium for the carcass and the body . The mechanism - the liftup had to be high grade steel - rust resistant and durable . the mechanism had to also be robust enough to bear a load of 200 pounds , given the bottles, the glasses etc. We selected our local Jayantibhai - an electromechanical geek in the western suburbs of Mumbai - a guy passionate and with a 'Customer First' attitude. For the metal bit, we used only pure Brass, sourced from Moradabad in west UP, for a simple reason that Brass in metal is like Teak for wood- it does not rust .
Given the fact that this unit was to also house some rare precious antique bottles of 100 year vintage , we made this unit impregnable - it can be operated by a toggle up and down switch on the side , which is housed in a lockable format and also by a remote - therefore only the owner/ designated user can open it . It has a section behind , about 1 feet height , supported on hinges, which is also under lock and key, for periodic maintenance of the mechanism.
Central bottle holder carved out of Teakwood, rimmed edges to avoid anything falling out, shelves carved out on the 2 sides , wine glass holders on the top, high lumen durable yellow light invisibly running on the back of the outer periphery - and more, we crafted this Bhavya, nee, Grand Bar unit with an eye on detail and more, logical for the intended purpose - In a typical Rusteak Style !
The robust teakwood joineries, the decorative handles on the facia, the solid Brass rods, the rounded wooden edges, the beautiful top which holds trophies, artefacts and an edgeless form to make it completely mishap free and adult child pet and tipsy safe !
The finish is a rigor of half a month and more of sanding , sand paper shaping , insulator pore blockage and priming and use of world class Emporio Epoxy sealants and finally finished with Emporio Matt PU .
The outcome and the final product simply takes the breathe away - It Is Awesome !
